Online Paid Marketing Simplified Under 5 Minutes

Online paid marketing provides immediate results. Learn Paid marketing to sell your services or products online.

In this post, I am going to show you how easy it is to run paid ads.

Let’s dive right in.

What exactly is online paid marketing?

Paid marketing is simply to show your Product/message to potential buyers by buying online ad space.

In simple words: You pay to show your message.

There are tens of online platforms where you can buy ads. Like Facebook, Google Ads, Bing, Linkedin, etc.

But Primarily, there are only two ways to run your ads.

  1. 1
    Query Based Targeting
  2. 2
    Target Based Targeting

1. Query Based Targeting

In a query-based targeting, you show your ad when someone searches your desired Keyword.

Like we do in Google search ads.

For example, You are selling an SEO book; you want to run Google ads to promote your book.

You ask Google to turn on your ads when someone searches the query “Best SEO BOOK”.

It is that simple.

"Humans complicate simple things."

Furthermore, you also add conditions like when and who to show your ads.

For example, You add rules to show your ads only between 9:00 to 20:00 and only to the people who are physically located in Lahore.

2. Target Based Targeting

Under target-based Marketing. You define your target audience, who you want to show your ad.

Like we do on Facebook.

You create an ad and tell Facebook who you want to show your ad.
For example, you ask Facebook to show your ad only who has the following characteristics.

Facebook ad targeting

Age: 25 -40

Location: Lahore

Gender: Male

Education: University students

Interest: Digital Marketing, SEO

Change your ad targeting according to the persona of your potential buyers.

Let’s create a practical scenario to understand the whole buyer journey.

For example, I want to sell my ebook “The One Day SEO Pro”.

The One Day SEO Pro

I create a Facebook ad that directs traffic to my website.

Let’s say 1,000 People clicked on my ad, landed on my site, but only 30 of them bought my book.

Now, what about the remaining 970 people who clicked on my ad, landed on my site, but left without buying.

What should we do with these people?

We remarket them.

To understand how we remarket.

Remarket your site visitors

Before running the ads, we implement a small piece of javascript code on our website to build our remarketing list. So that way we can remarket anyone who visits our website.

To explain a little better how remarketing works. Here is a small illustration.

remarketing

How remarketing works

How it works is when the user comes to your website, your website drops a cookie in the user’s browser. The cookie has a unique identification code. The site then uses this ID to keep track of the activity of our website visitors.

That way, you can remarket these visitors when they are on other websites.

Depending upon your retargeting tool, you can retarget the visitors on Facebook, Google network, or any other platform.

Pick the platform of your choice to remarket nonbuyer.

Practical example

We create a video ad to remarket the cart-abandoners on Facebook.

I say something like, hey, I noticed you are interested in my book, but you choose not to buy on your last visit. I offer you a special discount if you purchase my book today.

Use the coupon code “Desi Marketer” to get your 20 percent off today.

Optimize your buyer journey

Optimization is the process of improving efforts to maximize the desired business outcomes.

From creating ads to remarketing involves different puzzle parts. You optimize each step of your buyers’ journey to improve your results.

It is either:

Testing different headlines in your ad copy.
Changing Ad-copy/ text on the sales page.
Testing various offers, keywords, audiences, etc.

Optimization is a continuous process; we keep on testing to get the maximum Return on Investment.

Final thought

Paid marketing is a quick and easy way to promote your product/service online. Just answer, how much are you willing to spend to get one client?

Then pick your desired marketing platform accordingly and start reaching your potential customers online.

Great article. Explained in simple words. Testing is an important part of paid ads. Both target based and query based targeting has it’s own benefits
